Project summary

Over the years of conflict against Daesh, the historic town of Amedi in Iraq has welcomed refugees and internally displaced people from different areas and diverse communities. The town and wider Kurdistan region experienced destruction, conflict, neglect and post-war unrestrained development.

The project documented the town through aerial footage of its architecture and landscape. Oral and written interviews were gathered from local stakeholders alongside community engagement workshops. These activities informed the project’s design of a cultural heritage framework to improve the town for the local population.
