Project summary

A collection of paintings which were badly damaged by the Taliban in 2001 was assessed, documented and restored by this project.

In total 31 of the most damaged paintings have been fully restored and gallery staff have been trained in basic conservation techniques, object handling and collections management skills.

Training has been rolled out further than Kabul to staff in provincial galleries in Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar and Kandahar.
