Project summary
Kilwa Kisawini and Bagamoyo coastal heritage sites were at the forefront of impact from increasing climate change in the form of sea level rise and associated storm activity.
The Cultural Heritage National Database created by the project established baseline data for the state of preservation on the heritage and provided a means by which long-term sustainability is possible for local communities and national management.
This was achieved by providing the mechanism through a phone-based app and was further supported by the capacity building to record information with the local community.
