Project summary
Undocumented Yemeni intangible heritage was at risk due to conflict, resulting damage to homes and displacement of communities.
This project protected family archives identified as significantly valuable and addressed a gap in Yemen’s existing public archive collections.
Training for staff and archive owners in archive preservation, digitisation and management was followed by a programme of document digitisation shared via a publicly accessible interactive website.
Advocacy work and community engagement has also raised public awareness of the importance of archive preservation.
