Project summary
This project focused on protection and preservation work to two archaeological sites in the Gaza Strip: The Tell Umm ‘Amr or Monastery of Saint Hilarion and The Mukheitim or Byzantine Church in Jabaliyah, both of which have been directly affected by conflict.
Training and capacity building for students and skilled workers was delivered in conservation, archaeological techniques and 3D documentation. A public learning and engagement programme delivered through local community-based organisations has raised awareness in the importance of this valuable cultural heritage.
