Project summary

The historic Mamluk buildings in the Old City of Jerusalem are at risk due to their sensitive location, and damage resulting from vegetation, mortar erosion, and previous inappropriate use of concrete for patch repairs.

The project delivered specialist training in stone conservation and restoration and employed local crafts workers to undertake the works. The restoration work was complemented by community engagement activities and learning resources targeting young people and schools.
