Project summary

The unique salt-rock and clay (kershef) architecture of 800 year-old Kershef buildings at the Siwa oasis in Egyp has suffered years of deterioration due to political instability, abandonment and looting.

Local residents were trained in traditional kershef building techniques, enabling them to completely restore the mosques for future use by the communities.
