Launched in 2025, this milestone report uses the Cultural Protection Fund community as a starting point. It contains in-depth analysis with deep dives into nine technologies, cutting-edge case studies and recommendations for the future of heritage protection.

Unlikely Allies: Engaging Armed Groups for the Protection of Cultural Heritage

The Cultural Protection Fund commissioned Aleph Strategies and the Centre on Armed Groups to conduct research into the role of non-state armed groups in the protection of cultural heritage.

The project aimed to test the hypothesis that engaging with non-state armed groups for the protection of cultural heritage provides opportunities for peace-building. The full report can be found here.

International, Online Peer & Collaborative Learning Programme Blueprint

Published in 2025, this resource comes out of ‘Connecting Cultural Heritage’ (CCH), a programme commissioned by the British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund.

The idea was to find a way for people working in cultural heritage who share similar challenges all over the world to come together, learn from each other and form a supportive network.

The learnings from programme designers and facilitators of CCH have been distilled into this report by the Audience Agency.

Medium-term project evaluations

The Cultural Protection Fund awarded follow-up evaluation grants in 2022 to selected projects, aiming to explore medium-term impacts and diverse evaluation approaches.
